Cheyenne’s I Poem

April 3, 2008

I Am an Earthworm

I am an earthworm. I’m pink.
I wonder if I am important to earth.
I hear myself searching through soil.
I see other worms around me.
I want to be proud of myself.
I am an earthworm. I’m pink.
I pretend I am not just an earthworm.
I feel ticklish.
I touch soil when I travel.
I worry that I will get hurt by a human.
I cry because I am scared.
I am an earthworm. I’m pink.
I understand that I am important.
I say I’m small on the outside but big on the inside.
I dream that I won’t get hurt.
I try to be careful in a big world.
I hope I can make friends.
I am an earthworm. I’m pink.
