This is my journal invitation for Writer’s Notebook. My plan would be to make a similar version from a plain manilla envelope, then let the student decorate his/her suitcase. The suitcase could be glued to the inside cover of the notebook for reference.

I think that your journal invitation turned out beautifully. I think that it will catch your students attention and really get them jump started on writing in their journal. They will love it.
I am always so impressed at the creative apect of every assignment you submit. I think your students will be so intrigued with their journals. You are an excellent writer yourself, so the children will have a good model. I think your journal will encourage them to freely express themselves before they have to follow a “formula” next year. They will realize how much “fun” writing truly can be. Good luck!
